A Transatlantic Musical Heritage

Students of the Academic Year exchange program in Freiburg invite you to an evening of musical exchange. They come from various home universities in the Midwest, the heartland of the USA. It is a fortunate coincidence that a quintet came together in Freiburg in September 2018 not only for an eventful academic year, but also for a musically stimulating semester.

To promote German-American cultural exchange, AYF students, with the support of German friends and under the direction of our member Herbert Schiffels, will present their examination of German classics, contributions by German composers who have worked in America, and a cross-section of American folk music.

Look forward to an entertaining evening in the Great Hall of the

 Leo-Wohleb-Str. 4.  Starts at noon, ends at 6 p.m.

Let’s meet at the Ganter Brauerei-Biergarten for our yearly 4th of July Party – a true highlight for all of us! For this year’s celebration of the 243rd Independence Day and the birth of the United States we will once more come together with friends from around the globe and enjoy a very special summer’s day.

Let’s fire up the grill and enjoy some fine and spicy barbecue dishes, have cool drinks and listen to lovely live music. There will be lots of fun activities for kids, festive decorations, special guests, plentiful chances to practice some classic American sports – and, of course, oodles of that glorious midsummer glow! Join us in celebrating this joyous occasion – and we’ll make sure it is going to be a blast!
